Viya Health’s statement on modern slavery and human trafficking
Viya Health has zero tolerance for modern-day slavery and human trafficking. This statement is made pursuant to applicable legislation, including the UK Modern Slavery Act of 2015, and is informed by global and regulatory standards.
Organizational structure
Viya Health is an international non-governmental organization delivering consumer-driven global health services, with a focus on improving outcomes for women, girls, and children. Our work spans areas including malaria; HIV and tuberculosis; contraception and reproductive health; water, sanitation, and hygiene; and non-communicable diseases.
Viya Health employs more than 4,500 staff globally, is headquartered in Washington, DC, and operates through branch and affiliate offices in over 40 countries worldwide.
Business and supply chain
Viya Health delivers programs through a combination of direct implementation and partnerships with local and international non-profits, non-governmental organizations, suppliers of health products, host government Ministries of Health, public and private healthcare providers, pharmacies, health promoters and educators, and research institutions.
To achieve the objectives of its funded programs and initiatives, Viya Health works with suppliers and sub-recipients across all levels of its operations.
Due diligence
As part of its commitment to identifying and mitigating potential risks within its operations and supply chains, Viya Health conducts due diligence prior to entering into vendor agreements or sub-agreements with entities that work on its behalf.
In managing its supply chain and contractual relationships, Viya Health applies regulatory requirements aligned with U.S. Government Trafficking in Persons provisions across all commodity and consultancy contracts, and incorporates Modern Slavery Act requirements into UK-funded programs. Vendors and partners are required to prohibit any activities associated with modern slavery or human trafficking, to report credible concerns, and to cooperate fully with investigations and corrective actions where necessary.
Where there is reason to believe that a supplier or sub-recipient may be involved in modern slavery or human trafficking, Viya Health will investigate in line with its internal policies and take appropriate action. Beginning in 2020, safeguarding reviews and policy discussions were integrated into pre-award processes to strengthen compliance with donor requirements and organizational standards.
Viya Health remains committed to strengthening its approach to preventing modern slavery through ongoing risk assessment and mitigation.
